To upgrade the performance of its Magistrali™ automated espresso machine, Starbucks needed to make its equipment much, much faster while giving the barista greater control—and regain its role as an authentic coffee purveyor. To do so we lowered the overall height, streamlined its form, and improved its controls to make both machine and barista the center of attention. Details play up the analog, focus on the digital.
